The No Guilt Sunday
Do you ever have one of those days which is supposed to be one thing but ends up being something completely different?
This morning I was awake just before 8am. Lying in bed listening to the sounds outside I realised that one sound was missing, that of the wind. Within 10 minutes I was up and dressed and heading for my motorbike.
The last time I tried to go for a ride out, I got about quarter of a mile and was nearly blown off course. Today was different, today was sublime. A bit of a chilly start as I got used to being outside then a ride in some of our beautiful local countryside. What a great way to start the day.
When I got home I settled down at the desk to do some writing as I have to get my local newspaper to the printers this week. I managed to fill 2 of the 16 required pages with items sent in from local groups so now I just need to deal with the rest.
There was also supposed to be washing and cooking done, that didn’t quite happen because I decided I needed a couple more photographs. Cue another shorter ride on the bike to get what I needed.
I am now back at the desk thinking I should really be doing housework but not feeling guilty about the fact that I am not doing it. That is the first time in a while I have managed to avoid the guilt trip. Probably because it is just such a glorious day for going out on the bike. It wouldn’t surprise me in the least if I headed out again, just because I can.
Sometimes you just have to do what makes you happy. Often it can be very difficult to find the time and the guilt trip is not worth it in the long run. However, sometimes it just works, everything falls into place and you remember why you enjoy doing that thing you do.
As for the housework, it can be done at any time throughout the day/week, the riding can only be done in certain conditions and today those conditions are perfect.
I hope you are all having a great Sunday.
