Cosy Caravan Makes A Great Start To The Holiday
Last night we arrived at our destination in the middle of a howling gale with horizontal rain.
For some this may have been a bit of a problem, considering that we are at a caravan park. For us however it just made it all the better.
After picking up our keys and park information, we found our caravan and brought in the bags.
First things first, kettle was switched on and the bag with the tea, sugar and milk was emptied. Whilst I made tea, he found the boiler and switched on the heating. Within 5 minutes we were relaxing on the sofa with a cup of tea.
The weather didn’t improve last night but that did not deter us. Off we went to the entertainment complex and headed for the restaurant. It was quite a decent sized place with a pretty varied menu. Suffice to say, I had two courses and felt like a beached whale for the rest of the evening.
After a wander round the complex so that we knew where everything was for future reference, we returned to the caravan. All the curtains were closed, the heating was on and more tea was made. We were snug as bugs in a rug.
It really is a rather special feeling, listening to howling wind and rain battering off the windows whilst you are cosy and dry. Even more so in a caravan as the rain doesn’t only batter off the windows, you can hear it battering off the whole body of the caravan.
This morning the wind is still here but not as strong and it is dry at the moment. He is still sleeping so I am enjoying the peace and quiet to get some writing done. I think once we are on the move we will go explore the local area. I definitely need to get down to the sea and go paddling. It has to be done when like me you are from the centre of the country and have to make an effort to get to the seaside.
It is so nice to waken up knowing that there is nothing that you have to do. No where you have to be and no one you have to speak to. It has been over two years since we managed to get away together as a couple and have some quality us time. I intend enjoying it as much as possible and so far, it seems to be working.
