I Refuse To Have The Crisis

Writers Block and Wonky Box

Saturday is almost over and I have to say I am feeling pretty pleased with myself.

I have done some major housework and feel like I am actually making inroads into the disaster zone that is my home.  Kitchen worktops are cleared, sitting room is almost cleared, there was even some dusting done today.

There was a coffee morning almost on the other side of the road from my house at the local school.  Obviously, I went and paid my entry fee, bought a couple of strips of raffle tickets and then, I left.  That’s correct I did not sit and drink tea and eat cake which had been my intention when I woke up early this morning.

This may have something to do with the bacon roll for breakfast at 7am and the banoffee pie I had for nineses.  It is however a step in the right direction of not eating cake just because it is available.  Although I think paying for the privilege of not eating cake is maybe not the best way to go.

Over the last few evenings I have been making inroads in my writing.  I have managed a couple of local news articles and there is an article in process regarding recent business news.  I have to say I am a bit concerned about the changes regarding net neutrality and the announcement from Steam that they are no longer going to monitor the games they sell along with adding virtual porn to their catalogue.  I am sure I will end up writing pages on that for my news site.

What is even more surprising is that I have managed to add another couple of thousand words onto my book.  That would be the fiction novel I started last year some time that I only seem to be able to write at sporadic intervals.  This was obviously one of those intervals, so I am feeling pretty good that I managed to write so much this time.

I have noticed that I can write about the heroine quite easily, but the male lead is a bit more difficult.  In this day and age, I have no idea what 20 something year old males do with their spare time.  I know he will watch porn, that is a given, probably spend some time with friends in a bar or club and apart from that, I have no clue.  I must ask my daughter what her friends do when they are finished work.

Today was also the day we did some food shopping and we are trying to get back to some semblance of healthy eating.  We were in Asda this time and we got one of those wonky veg boxes.  I was so glad I had noticed it because we had bought most of what was in it separately and it cost way less than the veg we put back.  It’s the first time I have seen one of these in the shop, I am looking forward to making some meals around it’s contents.

The bike is sadly under cover as the weather forcast locally was for a yellow severe warning.  Let’s be honest, I am not going out on a motorbike in the rain unless I have to.  I am a fair weather biker through and through.

It seems I have variations in the way I spend my me time.  Sometimes I have loads to write and get very little else done and others I get loads done in my life but very little writing.  One day I am sure I will find a way to balance this. Any suggestions on how to do this, gratefully received.
