Trying Out Solid Shampoo Bar
This week I decided to try out the solid shampoo bar I bought on my £10 challenge in the local town. You can read about that here if you would like to see how I did.
Part of the thing about the challenge was that it needed to be things that I could use, not just more stuff to clutter the house.
The first thing I bought was face cream, the second was this solid shampoo bar. I have to say I went into the health food shop with more than a little trepidation not having been in there for over a year. I was pleasantly surprised to see they have a plastic free area selling bamboo travel cups, stainless steel straws and more. Including a shampoo bar for the princely sum of £2.65.
Having run down to London last weekend for a quick visit, this is the first weekend I have had where I have had time to enjoy a relaxing bath. I decided this would be a good time to try out the shampoo bar.
I did the very basic method or wetting my hair, pulling the bar down my hair a few times then pulling it upwards along the length of the ponytail.
It was surprisingly easy to obtain a lather and one that felt soft and creamy, much better than I had expected. I was so excited I called upon my 23yr old daughter to come see the fabulous shampoo bar lather. She obliged, rolling her eyes and who can blame her, when I put my hand to my head to say about how fabulous it was, it seems the bubbles and lather had diminished.
As the length of time bubbles last on your hair is not exactly useful to knowing how well it works, I think this disappointment can be ignored.
That was Friday night, it is now Sunday morning and I can get away with not washing my hair this morning. So much so, that I can happily go to the shops this morning without washing my hair again. As my hair is poker straight and prone to lankness, this is a very big deal for me. Day three for me is usually less than ten minutes of being awake before I have to go wash my hair because it feels like it is sticking to my head.
I will certainly be using the shampoo bar tomorrow morning before I go to work and we shall see how my hair reacts to a second use. We all know that the initial use of a new shampoo is good, but you don’t really know it until you have used it a few times. Watch this space to see how I get on.
