Home Made Dog Food Meatloaf Recipe

I have to admit I was pleasantly surprised by how simple yet effective this home made dog food recipe is.  I had purchased a number of packs of minced beef hoping to find some simple ways to make it into something for the dog.  That this may be able to to reduce costs in the process would be a bonus.

Thankfully this recipe is pretty simple and uses items that most people will have easily available. Hopefully this will be a starting point for more home made dog food in the future.

BEEF MEATLOAF FOR DOGS RECIPE

Ingredients:

1lb minced beef

1 cup carrots – finely chopped

½ cup spinach – finely chopped

½ cup peas – I used frozen

½ cup oats

2 eggs

Method:

Set the oven on at 175 Celsius

Take all the ingredients and put them in a large bowl

Mix well to incorporate.  (I use my hands, I find it much easier than a wooden spoon)

When the mixture is mixed place into a lined/oiled loaf tin

Bake for 45 minutes.

Remove from oven and leave to cool.

Once cool, place in the refrigerator for a few hours for ease of slicing.

Use within 3-4 days if keeping in the fridge or freeze for future use.

Our German Shepherd really likes this and would happily have her nose in the bowl if she could.

I am hoping that this is a starting point to be able to produce more home made food for the dog and incorporate that into my budgeting strategy. Wish me luck on that one.

Do please let me know how you get on with this recipe, I would love to hear if your dog enjoys it as much as ours.
